MY SPECIALTIES

INDIVIDUAL THERAPY

I offer individual therapy services to clients dealing with a range of concerns, such as alleviating unwanted emotions like anxiety, depression, and anger. Additionally, I work with clients to enhance their social skills and promote healthy habits in areas like daily living, study routines, sleep patterns, and dietary choices. My therapeutic approach is grounded in evidence-based treatments, including traditional Behavior Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and mindfulness training.

NEURODIVERSE POPULATIONS

I have extensive experience in serving neurodiverse populations, including those with Autism Spectrum Disorder, Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder, Nonverbal Learning Disability, and Social Communication Disorder. My training includes proficiency in evidence-based therapy protocols, including PEERS®, and the ability to adapt and tailor protocols to individuals on the Autism Spectrum, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. A key focus of my clinical expertise is aiding adolescents and young adults on the Autism Spectrum in navigating the often complex transition into adolescence and young adulthood.

PARENTING SUPPORT

I frequently collaborate with parents seeking assistance in managing challenging behaviors at home. Parents reach out to me when their usual parenting strategies prove ineffective. The objective of these interventions is to facilitate parents' understanding of why certain behaviors are escalating, to establish preventive measures against challenging behaviors, and to foster a positive, enriching, and rewarding environment for their children. This approach is pragmatic and adaptable. I have received training in evidence-based behavior management interventions, including Parent Management Training and Parent-Child Interaction Therapy.

ANXIETY DISORDERS

One of the most common clinical presentations I encounter in my practice is anxiety, encompassing conditions such as Social Anxiety Disorder, Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Phobias, and Separation Anxiety. I have received extensive training in evidence-based therapies, including Cognitive Behavior Therapy, with a strong emphasis on connecting the body and mind, and on the crucial technique of exposure. In the case of children and adolescents, treatment typically involves collaboration with both the child and the parents to facilitate the completion of exposure exercises at home.

DISORDERS OF THE GUT-BRAIN INTERACTION

Recently in my career, I have developed an interest in the important connection between the brain and the gut, often referred to as the 'second brain.' Historically, individuals with gastrointestinal symptoms worsened by stress were sometimes told that these issues were 'all in their head.' However, contemporary research has unveiled a more complex understanding. It has become evident that gastrointestinal symptoms can result from disrupted communication between the gut and the brain, and that behavioral interventions can play a pivotal role in correcting this connection and improving symptoms. To deepen my expertise, I have actively pursued ongoing education and training in therapeutic interventions for Disorders of the Gut-Brain Interaction, including conditions such as Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) and Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD).

TIC AND TOURETTE DISORDER

I have ample expertise and experience in Habit-Reversal Therapy for Tic Disorder, Tourette Disorder, and related Body-Focused Repetitive Behaviors, which encompass Excoriation Disorder (skin picking) and Trichotillomania (hair pulling).

PROFESSIONAL CONSULTATION

I offer consultation services to schools and other professionals, focusing on behavior management strategies and the creation of programs tailored for neurodiverse students. Additionally, I provide Continuing Education opportunities for staff. I also consult with fellow professionals to offer guidance on complex treatment and assessment cases involving individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
